Skydio products are the culmination of more than ten years of research and development conducted by leading experts in the fields of drones, artificial intelligence, and computer vision.

Our founders first crossed paths as graduate students at MIT in 2009, where they played a significant role in advancing autonomous drone technology. Following their time at MIT, they contributed to the establishment of Google’s Project Wing. Skydio was established in 2014, and in 2018, we introduced the R1, which was highly acclaimed as a significant advancement in consumer autonomous drones and as a foundation for commercial innovation.
